America's Got Talent Winner-Michael Grimm

Before the night of the fifth America's Got Talent season finale took place, who would have thought that anybody else could be America's favorite than Prince P and Jackie? True enough, every show has its own twist of fate; you can't expect anything more unpredictable than the result of a talent show. After giving his best foot forward a night before the finale, Michael Grimm was announced as the next America's Got Talent victor. Michael's music can now be listened to on internet radio.

 

Raised by his grandparents in Mississippi, Michael has been inclined to music as early as 5 years old. With the help and support of his grandmother, he started to play at local restaurants and bars. Not only that was he a good singer but he was also a writer and guitarist. His music slowly made a transition to southern soul. Being extremely ambitious, he traveled from Mississippi to Las Vegas where he hoped to get his opportunity at stardom.

You would not believe it but Michael didn't get his chance when he first auditioned on season 4. On season five, his first televised audition was very popular. After 3 months of showing what he got, Michael got the title awarded to home by American viewers who at first were so fascinated by his toughest competitors Prince P and Jackie Evancho. After the show, what's next for Michael?

Or course, since becoming the America's Got Talent grand winner, you won't see Michael performing at small clubs and casinos like he did in the past. You won't have to chase him there, all you need to do is to turn on your television or radio. He has appeared on different TV shows as well as radio stations. Currently, he is touring the United States with the America's Got Talent show. You will also find his music on record bars which seems to have dominated the chart for many weeks. Certainly, we can anticipate that he will make more albums in the near future. You will be able to locate more of his music via online radio.

 

Right now, he is busy with concerts, recordings and guestings. One of his recent public appearances was at the inaugural Museum of Tolerance International Film Festival Gala to honor acclaimed filmmakerClint Eastwood. Also on the show was American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. He also appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show where he asked his long time girlfriend, Lucy, to marry him.

Michael has also performed in a live concert at his Mississippi West Coast Concert Weekend with Martina Macbride. Tickets sales were extremely brisk there. With the help of Epic Records, he has plans to start selling his new album next year. He will probably continue to have a busy schedule until the end of this year.

As he described himself as "just a boy from Mississippi," this humble yet full of talent lad is committed to share a portion of his winnings to his grandparents who lost their house during Hurricane Katrina. Let us look forward to seeing more of his success in real life. Another talent has been produced and will mark the history of America's show business

DirectBuy of Little Rock makes local efforts for long distance disaster

LITTLE ROCK, AR…

And that’s why the service staff at DirectBuy of Little Rock donated their time and efforts on March 27, 2009 to help fill 4,000 disaster relief buckets for the recent flooding in North Dakota.

 

Ferncliff Disaster Assistance Center in Arkansas coordinated local relief efforts for the flood disasters in North Dakota. The buckets contained essential items for residential cleanup like: garbage bags, sponges, scrub brushes, masks, gloves, and detergent. Little Rock’s service staff helped fill and palletize close to a hundred extra large buckets before returning to work that day.

 

“Our service staff participates in community outreach every month,†said co-owner of DirectBuy of Little Rock Paula Schmidt. “We’ll be back to help fill First Aid kits anytime there is a disaster.â€

 

Months of rain and bad weather caused the Red River that runs through eastern North and South Dakota as well as western Minnesota to swell and spill over its banks. Floodwaters that made it through the levee damaged roads, public buildings, businesses, and homes.

 

A week after record flooding in North Dakota, cleanup efforts were under way. Thanks to the help of Ferncliff Disaster Relief Center, residents and businesses were prepared for immediate cleanup as relief buckets were sent on Saturday March 28, 2009.

In order to obtain high levels of service, DirectBuy of Little Rock has service trainings 3 days a week. Once a month, the staff reaches out to the community as part of those trainings. Little Rock’s Catalog Updater Eden Carroll introduced the staff to the relief center where her father serves as Director.

“Although the Red River is out of immediate danger, the river is still roughly 37 feet above flood stage. Should the river flood the area again, and we pray that it doesn’t, we would be more than willing to contribute further efforts in the relief of North Dakota,†said Service Manager Joey Sammons.

Ferncliff has a 10,000 sq ft Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) that works in cooperation with Church World Service (CWS) and Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA). The warehouse receives CWS Gift-of-the-Heart kits from churches around the country. Churches west of the Mississippi are invited to send their completed kits to Ferncliff. Churches to the east are asked to send their kits to the CWS national warehouse in New Windsor, Maryland. Kits received at Ferncliff will either be consolidated and sent in quantity to Maryland or can be sent directly to disaster sites.
